HavenMap is operated by Apps With Love Inc., an Illinois nonprofit corporation ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it. We've written it to be readable — not just legal.
Location
HavenMap uses your device's location to show restrooms near you. Your
coordinates are sent to our database provider (Supabase) as part of a
search query to find nearby restrooms — they are
not stored or logged after the query completes. We do
not build a history of where you've been.
Anonymous Device ID
We generate a random identifier for your device the first time you open the
app. This ID is stored in our database and is used solely to associate your
votes and feedback with a single device, preventing duplicates. It is not
linked to your name, email, location, or any other personal information.
Voluntarily Submitted Restroom Data
If you add a restroom to the map, we store the information you provide —
name, address, and facility features (accessible, gender-neutral, etc.).
This data is made publicly available in the app. Do not include personal
information in restroom submissions.
Votes and Ratings
When you vote on whether a restroom requires a purchase or rate a restroom's
quality, that vote is stored in our database linked to your anonymous device
ID — not to any personal identity.
Crash Reports
We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash and error reports that help us fix
bugs. These reports contain technical information about the app state at the
time of a crash and do not include personal information or location data.
Voluntary Bug Reports
The app includes an optional "Report a Bug" feature. If you choose to submit
a bug report, we collect the bug category you select and any description you
type. This text is stored in our database (Supabase) and delivered to our
team by email (via Resend). Bug reports are linked to your anonymous device
ID but contain no personal information unless you choose to include it in
your description — please don't.
We do not use your information for profiling or any purpose beyond operating the app. Optional rewarded ads are served through Google AdMob — see Section 4 for details.
HavenMap uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. We share data only with the service providers listed above, and only to the extent necessary to operate the app.
Restroom listings you submit are publicly available to all users of HavenMap.
Your anonymous device ID and associated votes are retained for as long as you use the app. Uninstalling the app removes the device ID from your device. Votes associated with that ID remain in our database in anonymous form.
Restroom listings you submit remain in the database unless removed by our moderation team for policy violations or inaccuracy.
HavenMap is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Because we do not collect personal information tied to your identity, there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions about data associated with your device ID, contact us at the address below and we will assist you.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
